Dashboard & Template Pages

Dashboard:

While both SureTriggers and Zapier offers differently designed dashboards to cater their target audiences to easily navigate and manage through their platform.

We will be looking at the differences the two platforms look and how they feel just from the first glance, as well as how comfortable a new user would be able to effectively use Zapier or SureTriggers quick and easy.

SureTriggers:

suretriggers_dashboard

When looking at SureTriggers dashboard, the first impression that comes into mind is the nostalgic theme of WordPress’s dashboard.

This is to be expected as one of SureTriggers target audiences is WordPress users and highly prioritizes working alongside WordPress.

This design choice is to create a comfortable and familiar sense for users of WordPress, reducing the time needed to learn the user interface of the platform.

Not only does SureTriggers share similarity with WordPress, but their dashboard does also fantastically make it look clean and organized.

The information hierarchy are clear with key features such as the tasks and workflow usage are displayed, allowing users to easily grasp the status of their automations easily.

The menu on the left provides an easily accessible way to sections like the Workflows, Recipes, Folders and even the History, providing efficient navigation and lowering clutter.

With the inclusion of the “Getting Started” section, along with a video featuring a spokesperson adds a fine touch to provide valuable sense of guidance for newer users.

As this is far more engaging than just a full on guide with just some graphs and long texts, this shows the commitment SureTriggers has for user onboarding.

SureTriggers dashboard cleverly integrates recommendations for recipes to try out, allowing for a jumpstart and inspirational way to start users path into automation.

SureTriggers also provides with a integration section to help users easily locate where they should start connecting their WordPress websites with SureTriggers, along with other apps.

Overall, SureTriggers dashboard proves to have a ease of use, user-friendly experience and is refined.

Zapier:

zapier_home

On the other hand, Zapier’s dashboard is while a strong dashboard, it is also an overwhelming experience.
This is especially for the new users or those just using this tool for a short while, the sheer amount of features available could feel like a mess and could potentially dilute the key focus of Zapier’s automation tool and its workflows.

The overload of features are also contributed from the sudden emergence of their beta features which appear even in the free trial.

The navigation of the dashboard appears to be less helpful than what it seems, though it would appear organized, especially in the left-handed menu, it requires users to understand the differences between each of the features found in the left-hand menu found in Zapier.

In addition to Zapier’s dashboard design, although it is functional, it does lack to a certain extent of visual polishing and needs a more modern designed interface.

The overall layout of the dashboard could really benefit if it were to be more visually appealing and streamlined as it would enhance the overall user experience.

With the mix of having many different visual elements and the dense information all could lead to internal overload, especially to new users of Zapier.

While Zapier has an extensive functionality design, with the current dashboard’s current design prioritizes their wide range of features which will hinder the overall process of user onboarding and will become annoying for new users who are looking to use Zapier for its intended purpose.

Conclusion – Dashboards:

Between Zapier and SureTriggers dashboards, SureTriggers takes the cake for the simplicity, straightforwardness and the ease of use.

This is due to SureTriggers having much less features but more flexibility compared to Zapier where despite having the strength of a wide span of features other than just automation will be a downside for Zapier.

Editor’s note:

While I enjoy both Zapier and SureTriggers equally, as a fellow WordPress user and someone who is easily overwhelmed by having multiple features, I simply enjoy SureTriggers as their design is much more simplistic and familiar over Zapier.

Templates

SureTriggers:

suretriggers_recipes

In SureTriggers, there is a page which is designed specifically for pre-made automation workflows called the ‘Recipe’ Page.

The overall layout of the page is clean and ingenious, promoting its easy navigation and amazing discoverability.

The prominent banner, ‘Explore recipes by use case’, can help to guide users to venture into the more popular categories others have used for automation, many of which can be a kick-starter for new users to try out what SureTriggers have in stored for them.

In addition to this, the button below to ‘try now’ some of these recipes encourages users to participate in the many wonders of the pre-existing recipes planted by experienced users gives an extra sense of social proof and trust.

With the addition of the button to ‘try now’ the recipes, the option to ‘create with AI’ highlights that SureTriggers are focusing on the use of AI to help ease the creation of user’s workflows.

The search functionality on SureTriggers recipe page are displayed, enabling users to easily filter various recipes based on the user’s unique keywords or specific needs.

With this, the search feature on SureTriggers’ recipe page is rather modern and relatively uncluttered, improving its overall user-friendly feel.

With SureTriggers own focus to create a visually appealing and provide clarity, in order to make it easier for users to fully grasp the purpose and full potential of each recipe at a simple glance.

By taking the priority of making themselves more discoverable and easier to use, SureTriggers have proven that their Recipes page are an effective way to start automation without having troubles crossing the wall of bad design.

This helps users to easily find and put in solutions of various needs, based on their specific situations.

Zapier:

zapier templates

On Zapier’s Interfaces page, also known as the page where you can locate premade templates, has a clean, minimalist and straightforward design.

Though, the introduction of some the features feel rather empty, Zapier’s headlines and subheadings provides a brief and almost generic overview of its many interface functionalities.

Some of these features include the ability to create forms, perhaps web pages and the creation of apps as well, but it does lack the compelling feel to grab the user’s attention.

The colour scheme of the page is rather empty-looking, though it promotes the readability of the text, it also creates a sterile and almost uninspired aesthetic. The lack of borders to the side menu especially contributes to that.

The section labelled as “Start Simple” is perhaps a little unrepresentative and feels a little limited as there are only 3 options available.

Along with this, their “+ Start blank” button is a little confusing as it does not provide much context on what the button is for. On the other hand, the options to ‘Start simple’ also have little to no context on what ‘trigger’ are supposed to mean and feel more like a technical detail.

While Zapier’s template or Interfaces page can effectively communicate with users for its basic purposes and features, it is arguably that it falls short of aspiring users to venture further and start using Zapier. Despite this, Zapier’s Interfaces page emphasizes on being simple and is clear, while this is commendable, Zapier could benefit more from providing a more engaging and passionate way to present itself to fully capture user’s attention.

Dashboard & Templates – Conclusion

While both SureTriggers and Zapier offer different ways for users to freely access pre-built automation workflows, both approaches and design principles differ from one another.

As both differs from one another as standalone automation platforms, below are some of the key differences between the two platforms.

SureTriggers:

  • Discoverability & Ease of Use: Focuses on its discoverable and ease of use on its Recipes page.
  • User-Friendly Layout & Organization: Clean layout, functionally prominent and categorizes on Use-Cases.
  • Social Proof & AI Assistance: Social proof of user counts and AI-assisted options for creation.
  • Familiarity & Visual Appeal: The design is familiar to those who frequently use WordPress and provides a clear and visual appeal.
  • Guided User Engagement: SureTriggers’ Recipe page is effective at guiding and attracting users to create solutions and venture deeper into its platform.
  • Flexible Automation & AI Integration: Automation workflows are very flexible and can implement designs and ideas with help of AI.

Zapier:

  • Minimalist & Functional Approach: Focuses on a more minimalist and functional approach.
  • Extensive Template Library: Offers wide library of templates, accessed from their Interfaces page.
  • Clean but Unengaging Design: Design is clean, lacks engagement elements, a clear categorization and descriptions are generic.
  • Lack of Context for Key Features: Lacks context for key features such as “triggers” and “+ Start blank” buttons.
  • Overly Simplistic Design: Zapier’s design is too simplistic to the point where it becomes a disadvantage.

Which is better?

SureTriggers is the better choice for those who are just looking for a way to automate workflows as it is much more user-friendly and discoverable than Zapier.

It has a clear categorization and search feature, as well as emphasizing on its visual appeal for users to find solutions and implement pre-built workflows.

While Zapier’s Interfaces page is cleaner and more functional, it fails to be more discoverable and engaging than SureTriggers.

It is due to Zapier’s overall generic descriptions and the lack of context for many of its key features would make it difficult for new users to easily understand and take advantage of Zapier’s full potential.

Overall, SureTriggers actively guides new users to easily understand workflow solutions, while Zapier presents itself with various options and requires new users to interpret and understand what the features are with little guidance.

Editor’s note:

When I am going through the templates for both SureTriggers and Zapier, the one clear difference between the two are definitely their designs, SureTriggers have the nostalgic feeling for me and makes it much more comfortable to navigate through while Zapier’s interface is different.

One of my main complaints about Zapier’s design is why did the design from the tables or Zaps page suddenly change when you tap on Zapier’s Interface page. I simply do not understand the reason behind that, SureTriggers have a consistent design and the loading speed between each page are consistent.

As I have stated in the conclusion above, the lack of context for what “Start blank” actually means, and as I ventured into it, there is no context on what you are ‘Starting’ and end up going through a bunch of titles without really knowing what you are getting yourself into.

Why should YOU choose SureTriggers?

Both SureTriggers and Zapier represents themselves as strong and ideal automation tools or platforms.

However, SureTriggers is a superior platform for automation over Zapier, especially for those users of WordPress eagerly looking for a way to turn tedious tasks, simple.

So it begs the question, why should you choose SureTriggers? Here is why:

WordPress Approach

  • Smooth Incorporation: SureTriggers boasts about their deep integration with WordPress, allowing for full control over WordPress-related events and actions which Zapier may not be able to match up to.
  • Nostalgic Interface: SureTriggers’ WordPress-inspired design provides WordPress users with a sense of nostalgia, allowing these users to easily manage and walkthrough SureTriggers with ease.

User-Friendly Experience

  • Smart Design: SureTriggers focuses on their clarity and ease of usage, providing users with clean and well-organized interfaces. This makes it simple enough for all users to effectively use their product without feeling overwhelmed, unlike in Zapier.
  • Recipe-Based Approach: SureTriggers’ Recipe page offers a curated selection of pre-made workflows for automation, all are catered by use cases and are easily discoverable. This makes SureTriggers way of selecting templates easy, whereas Zapier’s templates are less informative and are not as collected and effective as SureTriggers.

Low Cost

  • Competitive Prices: As SureTriggers offer competitive pricing plans, users with high-volume needs for automation can freely use SureTriggers with minimal financial losses. However, compared to Zapier, SureTriggers is cheaper in both prices overall and effectiveness, especially for WordPress users. Even despite Zapier’s free plan which only lasts for 14 days, SureTriggers’ lowest price of 9$ effectively takes the cake for cost.

Clear & Discoverable

  • Clear Navigation: In the comparison between SureTriggers’ and Zapier’s dashboard and template pages, it is clear that SureTriggers have designed their pages to be more informative and less cluttered, despite Zapier’s minimalist design and features.
  • Visually Appealing: In SureTriggers design, they emphasize on their visuals and present themselves as clear as daylight, making their platform easy to understand its purpose and functionally have all sorts of elements accessible in their platform. Zapier’s design, though it is clean and minimal, it can feel less engaging and visually generic or lazy in a sense.

AI Capabilities

  • AI-Powered Creation for Workflows: SureTriggers are actively implementing AI to make the creation of workflows much easier. Their “Create with AI” option on their Recipes page shows their commitment to taking advantage of AI to make automation much more accessible.

Speed Efficiency:

  • Faster Loading Speed: SureTriggers website loading speed is astronomically faster than Zapier’s loading speed, for reasons unknown, SureTriggers loading new pages or going to a different page on their platform can be seen in a blink. Whereas for Zapier, there is a delay between each page and the loading speed between pages are drastic.
  • Faster automation: Despite Zapier’s higher pricing, SureTriggers automation speed are drastically faster than Zapier’s automation speed.

Conclusion – SureTriggers VS Zapier

In the world of automation between SureTriggers and Zapier, SureTriggers is most definitely the stronger contender for all users and especially for WordPress users who value having the comfortable feeling of using a WordPress-inspired platform and user-friendly experiences.

While Zapier is a good automation platform, they have already started to drift off their course of being a automation platform and have started to become not only a specialized automation platform.

While SureTriggers will remain to be a automation-only platform and will provide a clear, concise, rapid speed automation and loading, cheap and reliable source for automation.

Editor’s note:

I really enjoy SureTriggers nostalgic feel and even with the fact of their creation of workflows, it is simplistic and easy to navigate, unlike Zapier where you are basically transferred to a whole new website and interface and are expected to know everything.

For me, if I wanted a simple automation tool that is quick and easy to use, I’d use SureTriggers, it is the best platform for automation due to its slick and simple design.

Zapier is definitely better if you have much time and do not have the impatience like myself, Zapier takes time and patience for itself to load, and be able to process and learn their navigation with ease.
